Answers for the Front Door
The everyday questions behind a good receiving arrangement. Carrier conditions, building rules and the details of your installation still take precedence.
Storage and deliveries
Does a parcel box prevent theft?
No. Concealment, locks, deposit mechanisms and anchoring can deter or restrict access, but no household arrangement guarantees that a parcel cannot be taken. Assess the whole installation and collect promptly. See our storage guide for the differences between these features.
Will every courier use my parcel box?
No. Use depends on the carrier, service, sender instructions, parcel size and delivery conditions. Signature, age-verification or handover requirements may prevent unattended delivery. Save instructions through the carrier’s supported system and keep another receiving option available.
Is weather-resistant the same as waterproof?
No. Ask what was tested and under which conditions. Check the complete enclosure, seals, drainage, exposure and maintenance instructions. A sensor’s ingress rating does not automatically cover the whole box. Our weather-resistance guidance explains what to ask.
What size parcel box should I choose?
Measure representative parcels and compare them with the usable opening and internal chamber, not just external dimensions. Allow for several deliveries and the mechanism’s operating space. Plan another method for oversized items.
Entrances and installation
Do I need permission to install one?
Possibly. Tenancy terms, shared-building rules, ownership boundaries and local planning requirements can apply. Get the relevant approval before drilling, attaching equipment or changing a communal area.
Can I use any wall plugs supplied with the box?
Not without checking suitability for the actual substrate and the manufacturer’s instructions. Concealed services, wall condition, waterproofing and loads matter. Ask a qualified installer where the construction is uncertain. Our installation guide is a planning checklist, not an anchor specification.
Signals and exceptions
What if the notification does not arrive?
Use a routine check and an offline retrieval method. Check power, batteries, coverage and phone permissions, but do not assume that no alert means no delivery. Alerts should support collection rather than be its only trigger. See the notification guide for fallback planning.
Should I give a courier my household access code?
Do not publish permanent household or communal access codes. Use only authorised, supported arrangements and understand any temporary access controls. Never bypass building security or prop open fire doors for deliveries.
What should I do if tracking says delivered but the parcel is missing?
Check the delivery details, authorised receiving places and household members, then contact the seller and carrier promptly through trusted channels. Keep relevant tracking information. Do not enter unsafe areas or accuse neighbours based only on a scan. This website cannot trace shipments or resolve delivery claims.
